COY18/COP28 2023 Dubai

Empowering youth voices at the heart of global climate negotiations

COY18 (the 18th UN Climate Change Conference of Youth) took place in Dubai alongside COP28 in 2023, bringing together thousands of young climate leaders from around the world. Recognized by the UNFCCC, COY serves as the official youth counterpart to the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, ensuring that the perspectives of the next generation are represented in global decision-making.

This youth-led gathering provided a platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and advocacy, equipping participants with the tools to influence climate policy and drive action in their own communities. Workshops, plenaries, and strategy sessions focused on solutions ranging from renewable energy transitions to climate finance, adaptation, and resilience.

GreenFutures was proud to participate in this landmark event. Our president, Daniel Chen, attended COY18 and COP28 to advocate for sustainable finance as a cornerstone of climate action. By engaging with youth delegates, policymakers, and civil society leaders, GreenFutures emphasized the urgent need to align financial systems with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Our contributions included:

  • Championing sustainable finance as a driver of equitable climate solutions.
  • Supporting youth-led initiatives that bridge local action with global policy.
  • Building partnerships with organizations committed to accelerating the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.

The momentum from COY18 continues to inspire GreenFutures’ work. We remain committed to:

  • Elevating youth perspectives in climate policy discussions.
  • Advocating for financial systems that prioritize sustainability and justice.
  • Strengthening partnerships that turn commitments into action.

By engaging in spaces like COY18 and COP28, GreenFutures helps ensure that the fight against climate change is inclusive, ambitious, and effective.

Together, we can build a future where young voices lead the way toward a just and sustainable world.
